January Moons
a short guide for both the full & new moons happening this month
Hey friends. Happy New Year! Let me give you this gist of what’s happening with the moons this month, how you can use the energy to your benefit (journal prompts & affirmations), and how I am using it personally to manifest a goal for 2026.
Full Moon
The moon will be full in the sign of Cancer on January 3rd! Cancer will shine a light on areas of your life where you might be overextending your nurturing capabilities, OR not accepting enough nurturing yourself.
Maybe you’re afraid to ask for help for something in particular.
Maybe you’re offering too much help to someone in particular.
Both can be emotionally draining and require a change in order to maintain productivity and healthy boundaries.
This moon is quite literally asking you to serve yourself emotionally so that you don’t crash out later. That means you don’t have to do everything alone- lean into the parts of your village you truly trust for support or guidance. This also may mean to take a step back if parts of your village feel like they’re asking too much of you, or taking advantage of you.
Sit with your feelings and ask yourself which end of this spectrum you’re at and plan out how to get through it.
journal prompts:
what emotional patterns have I outgrown?
what areas of my life am I feeling sensitive about at the moment?
how can I mother myself?
what old beliefs am I ready to release so that I can create my own stability?
where do I need to change?
full moon rituals:
take a full moon bubble bath. enhance the cancer energy with a glass of something that soothes you as you soak in the calming water. you can even add moon water or crystals like rose quartz, or moonstone to charge the bath.
observe the moon. sit with her in her fullness, and acknowledge every emotion you’re currently carrying. what will you release? tell it to the moon.
after you tell it to the moon, write it down- or try doing both at the same time.
cry if you feel like it.
try a soothing activity like painting, yoga, or cooking a new recipe.
affirmations:
“I release past hurts and replace them with healing.”
“I trust and nurture my inner voice.”
“I nurture myself and honor my needs.”
“I allow myself to be witnessed and to truly know myself.”
“My emotions guide me to clarity.”
New Moon
The moon will be new again on January 18th. Situated in the sign of Capricorn, this is the first new moon of the year and it’s all about potential. Remember the things you put off until the new year after reading my December moon post? The time is now to take action if you haven’t already. This lunation provides the potential for all those new projects you’re planning on breathing life too in 2026. Go with the flow of your motivation, set intentions for your ideas, and start the work that will pay off this year. The importance here is your intentions and just starting- not overworking or burning yourself out. Set a healthy, steady pace for yourself, and plan for success.
you got this <3
journal prompts:
what are my long-term goals?
what ambitions am I committing to this year?
what new habit can I implement in order to help me reach my goals faster?
what vision do I have for my future self? get super specific with this one.
new moon rituals:
write a letter from your future self expressing gratitude for all the things you currently wish to achieve but haven’t yet.
make a list of things you can do now (or very soon) that will propel you toward your goals.
invest in your future self- this can be by tucking a little money away in a savings account, or buying a luxury, but practical, item that the future you would appreciate (think maybe a new perfume, or a better work tote, or even a book/class that helps you polish a skill you’re learning).
create a vision board
affirmations:
“I build my dreams, one step at a time.”
“I can be patient and disciplined.”
“My hard work pays off.”
“I manifest my ambitions with unwavering determination.”
As for me?
I have some specific goals in mind.
I of course am working hard on writing book two in my Primrose Curse series, but I also want to compile a second book of poetry. In addition, I’ve recently been accepted for a side project I’ve been manifesting (more details to come), so I am at the very least manifesting the discipline to work out all projects in a timely manner, opportunities for long, productive writing sessions, and for creative success with these projects!
I am really excited about these projects, but particularly this side project because it’s the first time I’ve been required to write for something specific and not just an idea I’m writing for myself. I can’t wait to be able to share more with you guys :)
My journal will basically be attached to me for the next several months and I try to stay grounded and diligent.
I am practicing what I preach! I have been leaning into my support system when I can so I don’t burn myself out balancing writing books + life + a full time job. I will probably do another public diary entry here soon since it’s been awhile. I also have several personal goals I’m working on as well, and I want to be fully committed to those things while still being grateful for the little things I’ve already accomplished.
For the upcoming full moon, I am already shopping for a new luxury perfume because it’s time for something new and I feel like my future self would smell different lol. I love manifesting with fragrance! I am also a huge fan of writing letters to and from my future self so that will be done by the full moon too.
I am thankfully off from work on the new moon, so I will definitely be taking a relaxing moon water bath with lots of bubbles and probably a glass of wine lol. I’ll be in front of the mirror saying my affirmations, in my journal doing shadow work and then I’ll be writing of course!
Which affirmation will you try this weekend?
happy manifesting <3
xo,
Jessica
